  1. Look better

  2. Feel better

  3. Earn more

These are the 3 areas in which I’m focusing all of my mental energy in 2024.

Each one has a single habit associated with it.

Something I’ve learned this year is that to live a life you truly desire, you need to choose your struggles.

You’re going to feel pressure, so it might as well be for something you care about.

Dan Koe introduced me to the idea of tactical stress and the concept has stuck with me.

You can leverage the stress you get from a business, your career, etc to force yourself to quickly adapt.

Uploading consistently on YouTube (once per week) was a decision that scared me in August, but is my baseline in December.

This brings me to the 3 habits.

1. Look better — continuing to hit the gym 6 days per week, focusing on progressive overload

The pain I feel in the gym is worth it for the psychological enjoyment of the process, that feeling of improvement, and the social aspect of going with my friend

2. Feel better — journal more consistently, having mental clarity on the problems I’m currently facing and the path I’m on

The “pain” of a daily journaling habit is the time it takes to sit down and force myself to reflect on my day, but the upside is infinite.

3. Earn more — find the most effective path to growing the revenue of the business (continue the channel)

The business is where I spend most of my time outside of the gym and work. The stress about whether the effort will pay off is worth the upside (yes, money) and enjoyment I get from the process.

I’m shifting my focus from solely spending more time to spending more focused time. I want to get done in 4 hours what I previously did in 8. I plan to do this by accessing flow more consistently.

I believe that limiting my mental bandwidth by focusing on these 3 areas will help me to achieve my goals.

For this week’s action step, ideate on the fewest number of areas you need to focus on to achieve what you truly desire.

I like the look better, feel better, and earn more framework (that I got from Dan), but of course, do what works best for you.

The most important nuance is to not wait 8 days to start changing.

Things I’ve been working on

I built a dedicated gaming setup in my office. This makes recording gameplay for videos or testing products 10x easier than swapping inputs on my main workspace.

Things I’ve found interesting

Dan Koe's Newsletter is always a good read. He’s inspired my writing in a lot of ways.

Rian Doris’ latest video gives an incredible decision-making process. I’ll likely write a letter based on this video.

This letter was heavily inspired by Mark Mansons' book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Only just started but it's a good read.

I hope you found this helpful. If you did, please share it with a friend who needs to read it.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.

See you next week.
