Consistency is a Myth

Consistency in all areas of life is impossible.

Consistency in one discipline requires inconsistency in another.

This week I’ve missed multiple morning routines and early wake-ups for the sake of staying consistent with videos.

Today’s video took longer than most, so it required every extra hour of the week to finish in time.

When I woke up the last two days I quickly made the decision to jump straight into work.

With it being Sunday I take 30 minutes to reflect, so I’ll tackle the root of my late nights, but I had my priorities aligned.

While I value my morning reading + writing, staying consistent with weekly uploads is more important to me.

Instead of getting angry with yourself for not sticking to your word, understand why you didn’t and make the decision most aligned with your ideal self.

If you reflect like this at least once a week for several months to a year, you’ll notice patterns in your behavior that you can correct.

While you can’t be consistent in everything to start, you can expand over time.

Dream Office Tour 2024

Uploaded a full tour of my office. I’m a little limited with my apartment being a rental, but I’m really happy with what I’ve been able to come up with.

MacBook Air M3

I wasn’t planning on picking it up but will be reviewing the Base M3 MacBook to see how far you can push an 8GB machine. I’m going to try editing one of my own videos in Resolve or FCPX and see how smooth it is.

Things I’ve found interesting

links to valuable stuff I thought was worth sharing. Some links are affiliates.

Neardrop - let’s you use Google Quick Share from Android to MacOS to replicated AirDrop. Haven’t tested it out yet but sounds very useful.

The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing - The most recent book I finished reading. It’s a little outdated but explains marketing principles in a very simplistic way.

Key Person of Influence - I listened to the Audiobook of Daniel’s Priestly’s book and like all of his stuff it was great. A great read if you want to build a personal brand.

One Person Empire - great workshop from Olly Richards that I attended earlier in the week. He runs an 8-figure language-learning company and last year went from $0→$175K with his personal brand. Refreshing to hear business advice from someone who made his money doing the thing.

Framer SaaS Website UI Kit - A free UI kit for Framer/Figma. Includes a ton of pre-built components for Hero sections, navbars, testimonials, etc. I was thinking of building something like this for myself to build templates quicker.

iMessage spelling error punishment - The funniest newsletter I’ve seen.

Have a great week.

Cole
